By studying historical clothing, the origins and evolution of fashion, we can understand a changing society. Conventional fashion history is predominantly focused on the Western theories and context. Through a collaboration with the Zay Initiative, students at DIDI have had the opportunity to explore new and lesser known fashion histories, rooted in the MENA region. This research into the past will be used for predicting future fashion trends as well as inspiration for innovative new designs.

من خلال دراسة الملابس التاريخية و أصول الموضة وتطورها ، يمكننا أن نفهم التغيرات في المجتمع. يركز تاريخ الأزياءالتقليدي في الغالب على النظريات والسياق الغربي. من خلال التعاون مع مُبادرة زَيّ ، تتاح الفرصة للطلاب في معهد دبيللتصميم والابتكار (DIDI) لاستكشاف تاريخ الموضة الأقل شهرة ، المتجذرة في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا. سيتماستخدام هذا البحث عن الماضي للتنبؤ باتجاهات الموضة المستقبلية بالإضافة كإلهام للتصميمات الجديدة المبتكرة.
